Is this a good set of ETFs? Lazy Portfolio?
I'm starting and I wanted to create a "lazy portfolio" I am 30 years old. Is this a good set of ETFs? (70stocks/30bonds) VTI - Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (AMEX) VTV - Vanguard Value ETF (AMEX) IJS - iShares S & P SmallCap 600 Value Idx IWC - iShares Russell Micro Index (ETF) VNQ - Vanguard REIT ETF (AMEX) DLS - WisdomTree INTL. SmallCap Div Fd. (ETF) VEU - Vanguard FTSE All-World ex-US ETF (AMEX) VWO - Vanguard Emerging Markets ETF (AMEX) BND - Vanguard Total Bond Market ETF (AMEX) AGG - iShares Lehman Aggregate Bond (ETF) (NYSE) TIP - iShares Lehman TIPS Bond (ETF) (NYSE) that I plan to continue adding to my investments every few months. Is $ 4 a trade if I'm getting a lot $ 400 - $ 500? That's less than 1%.
Presumably you'll want to keep investing in various ETF's in roughly the same proportion to the other. This means that you will have frequency buy and sell a small number of shares for each ETF. And this is going to cost a lot in trading commissions. That's not good. His long list of ETF may be a good how to invest only if they invest a large sum of money and not do anything with him for many years. But if you keep adding to your investment every few months. Then, with many ETF's, you end up spending much money on trading commissions. When it comes to adding more to your investment regularly. So it makes more sense to choose one or two well diversified ETF and invest all your money on them. That way their negotiating committees will be reasonable.
