Market capitalization is the total market capitalization of the company. Public companies issue shares to raise capital for your business. There are thousands of publicly traded companies. The market price per share of each company in the stock is determined by the forces of supply and demand. Suppose that Z is now a publicly traded company in an action for change. Company shares are listed at $ 20. It is that a buyer is willing to pay a seller of shares of Z. Suppose further that Z Company has 5 million shares issued and outstanding. If each share is valued at $ 20, $ 5 million of shares issued by the society as a whole is estimated at 100 million dollars. This is achieved by multiplying 5 million shares for $ 20 per share. This may be less capital invested in the company. Market capitalization is the market collectively values the company at some point.
All societies are divided into three basic categories. They are small caps, Cape of medium and large capitalization. Companies like Procter and Gamble and banks are Citicorp, are classified as large caps. Market capitalization can an investor to determine when the investor believes and is willing to risk their capital. My opinion is this. Large companies have existed for CAP longer and can better cope with adversity. However, growth could be lower. Small capitalization companies may have a growth higher, but may not be able to cope with the recession trends, competition, etc.
An investor must also balance portfolio in terms of precise percentages are invested in small cap companies, medium and large enterprises. There are three components of growth that the investor expects. Profitable growth of the business is key. What follows is the regularity of dividend payments. The third component is equal, a company with lower PE compared to the industry has great potential for capital appreciation. A final word of caution, always consult with a contractor qualified and trained professional to know where to invest.
