otc list

My girlfriend has had allergic reactions to OTC drugs. Doctors say it is nothing. Hives arent "nothing." Need help?

Whenever taking Tylenol (acetaminophen), Advil (ibuprofen) or Aleve (sodium Naproxin), she breaks out in hives all over. That is unfortunate. We went to the night, the room emergency and said it was nothing and gave him some steroids and sent home. That did nothing. I have asked many doctors about this and they all say the same. He has stopped taking any thing is, when he gets hurt or has a headache, it comes with it. I can not find the list of ingredients in OTC pain relievers anywhere. My thoughts is that maybe there is something that is not on the package (as the bonding agent in the pill together) or something that could be causing an allergic reaction. Any help would be much appreciated.

Good question. I think the bonding agent in many of these drugs is calcium carbonate. If only it were a drug, I would tend dye think the pill is involved. However, several OTC pain relievers … Well, I would be very curious if you have this reaction to aspirin. The method of action is different from all those listed and aspirin. That would be a good piece of information that could suggest a sort of autoimmune problem. I'm very confident if you wrote McNeil Consumer Healthcare, etc, and told them that his friend is having an allergic reaction to your product and would like a list of all ingredients in medicine to check with your doctor, you can provide. But you have multiple drugs manufactured by multiple … again, I'd like to aspirin and potential autoimmune problem.
